Roots Groups is a group-based service for adults with developmental disabilities, designed to support skill-building, social connection, and meaningful community participation.
Through structured and informal group activities, participants are supported to build independence, develop life skills, and engage with others in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Group activities may include:
All programming is person-centered and adapted to the interests, strengths, and goals of participants within a group setting.
Roots Groups is available to adults who are eligible for services through Community Living BC (CLBC). Referrals are made through CLBC and participation is based on CLBC authorization and program capacity. There is no cost to the participants for this program.
Services are delivered in accessible, dedicated spaces within partner housing buildings, including kitchens, dining, and multipurpose areas for group activities. Programming also takes place in community settings to support inclusion and community participation.
Roots Groups supports participants to build confidence, strengthen relationships, increase community involvement, and enhance overall quality of life through consistent group-based experiences that foster connection and belonging.
